I know it's been ages since I've written anything but I have to talk about the loss of the most fantastic writer of teen fiction I've ever read. I've never read teenagers portrayed so accurately as in his works. Mr. Ned Vizzini took his own life the weekend before Christmas. It breaks my heart, he battled depression for much of his life and spent so long suffering. His own experience with mental illness is what enabled him to write such insightful works about people suffering in their own minds. I just finished reading " It's Kind of a Funny Story" last night! I could have probably finished it quicker but I tried to slow my reading because I really enjoyed it. I think I prefer reading books from male perspective. Maybe it's just because very few teen novelist write female protagonist I relate to.
